About the role

Change Mental Health’s Hopetown Coffee is looking for a part-time Barista to help bring an exciting, new non-for-profit café venture to life in the heart of the city.

The post holders will have the unique opportunity to help create an uplifting, non-stigmatising café known for great coffee, will raise awareness of mental health and illness while creating a safe and supportive space where everyone is welcome.

General Duties

  • Act in accordance with Data Protection legislation. Ensure all records, personal staff and client data are managed in line with Data Management and Information Governance policies.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provision set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • As with all employees, workers, and volunteers: to encourage people to join Change Mental Health as a member, donor, or activist.
  • To act in accordance with the charity’s Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and to notify your line manager promptly if there are any concerns.
  • To participate in regular supervision and appraisal and undertake any relevant training as appropriate to the role.
  • To work in accordance with the charity’s national policies and local operating procedures and those of external regulators or professional bodies.

What do I do

  • Quality control of food and drinks, ensuring that each item served to a customer is of the highest quality.
  • Have a good working knowledge and experience as a barista.
  • Be a friendly and positive team member.
  • Ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety are always maintained.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work weekends and occasional evenings.
  • Working with the flexibility to adapt this as when required (for example, during festival season in August).
