About the role

Change Mental Health is a leading national mental health charity providing incredible person-centred support across the nation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, empathic person with a passion for supporting carers and family members of people living with mental illness to join Change Mental Health and help us continue to deliver excellent mental health services across Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway.

Carer Support Workers help Carers to feel connected to their loved ones and community, working towards aspirations and goals that they set themselves; that help them live life wellThey provide emotional and practical support, help to raise carers awareness of their rights and of support packages available to them, signpost and refer them to various agencies, charities and services that they need.

We build links with partner organisations across Dumfries and Galloway, helping break down barriers and develop services that people want and need.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who believes in the power of people to be able to change the world. Someone who is passionate about changing people’s lives for the better and facilitating others to be all they can be.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can build strong and purposeful relationships.
  • Is empathic, understanding and has a sense of humour.
  • Has a knowledge of specific legal issues faced by carers of people living with mental illness is highly desirable.
  • Is able to work in a team or alone with carers to meet their needs
  • Is ambitious about what they, their team and the organisation can be and can do. Someone who wants to make things better!
  • Has confidence in using Microsoft packages, such as Teams and Excel and online communication platforms such as Zoom.

The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme. A full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for these roles.
