About the role

The primary responsibility of trustees is to provide the organisation with strategic leadership and maintain a governance perspective to ensure it is well managed and administered and resources are used appropriately.
In addition to the above statutory and specific duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions.
This may involve:
  • Scrutinising board papers
  • Leading discussions
  • Focusing on key issues
  • Providing guidance on new initiatives
  • Time Commitment – 4 Board meetings per year starting at 4pm and ending at 6.30pm, along with up to 2 Board away days, normally taking place on a Saturday.

All Trustees are required to attend at least 75% of board meetings annually.

Ideal candidates will strongly commit to ensuring our organisation complies with all relevant laws and regulations, pursues its defined objectives, and uses its resources exclusively for these purposes. You will be responsible for safeguarding our good name and values, ensuring efficient administration and effectively managing the charity’s property and funds.

Your contribution will be instrumental in setting our strategic direction and goals, monitoring performance and holding the Chief Executive Officer accountable. Your financial acumen will be a key factor in ensuring our financial stability, and your willingness to question and act upon financial information will be highly valued. Moreover, you will actively support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team in implementing board decisions, review the CEO’s performance annually, and participate in the board’s self-evaluation.

We are looking for individuals who can effectively represent the board’s agreed position publicly, respect confidentiality, and always prioritise the organisation’s best interests over personal or sectional interests.
