About the role
We are recruiting a Counselling Team Lead to provide operational and clinical leadership for our counselling services based at the Stafford Centre in Edinburgh.
Working closely with the Head of Edinburgh Services, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of high-quality counselling support, manage and supervise counsellors, trainees and consultants, and contribute to the strategic development of Change Mental Health’s counselling offer.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Alongside managing the service, you will hold a small counselling caseload and model trauma-informed, reflective and ethical practice. You will help shape a supportive team culture where staff feel valued, supported and able to deliver excellent outcomes for the people we support.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be a qualified and experienced counselling professional who brings both clinical expertise and people-centred leadership.
Ideal candidate must have:

A diploma-level qualification (or above) in counselling or psychotherapy

Registration with BACP, COSCA, UKCP or NCPS

Experience delivering trauma-informed, person-centred counselling

Proven experience managing, supervising and supporting staff

Strong understanding of safeguarding, ethical practice and relevant legislation

Confidence working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders

A reflective, resilient leadership style and commitment to staff wellbeing

Strong organisational, reporting and digital skills
Experience of supporting trainee counsellors and developing counselling services is desirable.
