Hopetown Coffee is Change Mental Health’s not-for-profit safe space coffee shop raising awareness of our charity, mental illness and mental health.

The post holders will have the unique opportunity to help create an uplifting, non-stigmatising café that will be known for great coffee, will raise awareness of mental health and illness whilst creating a safe and supportive space where everyone is welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality control of food and drinks, ensuring that each item served to a customer is of the highest quality
  • Serve customers as Barista
  • Be a friendly and positive team member
  • Ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety are always maintained
  • Flexibility and willingness to work weekends and occasional evenings
  • Working flexibly to adapt this as when required (for example, during festival season in August).
  • Key-holder responsibilities
  • Dialling in the espresso
  • Cashing up.

Essential Criteria

  • An experienced hospitality professional
  • Have a good working knowledge and experience as a barista.
  • Experience of handling money
  • An outgoing, positive, and enthusiastic individual
  • A kind and caring individual who can create and maintain a thriving environment, a vibrant customer culture, and a healthy team-oriented workplace in line with the Café’s values and those of Change Mental Health.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of Food Health and Safety Standards
  • Knowledge of stock management, including counting stock and placing orders.
