Edinburgh

The Stafford Centre is the central place where we support people with their mental health in Edinburgh

Our free drop-in at the Stafford Centre on Broughton Street is a safe environment where you can begin to build supportive networks and get the mental health support you need. We want to help you as soon as you walk through the door, making sure you are directed to the activity or support that works best for your recovery. From here, you can relax in the company of others and regain confidence.

We provide transformational services for people in Edinburgh, and the Stafford Centre is home to a wide range of free group activities. You can take part in art, music, stained glass, carpentry, jewellery making, walking, karaoke and more.

There’s a main café area where you can chat and feel part of the community, a creative arts space, basement music sessions, carpentry workshops, and Radio Stafford 103 – a community radio run by service users. You can also join our Tai Chi sessions, gentle exercises that connect mind and body.

At the Stafford Centre, we aim to reduce isolation, promote belonging, and build resilience so that you can develop skills, confidence and find your community.

“I have been coming to the creative group for 7 or 8 years now. Due to both physical and mental health, it can be very difficult to get out of the house and down to the Stafford Centre. Despite this, I always make the effort to go and I almost always feel better when I do get to the group. There is no pressure to create something perfect, just a dedicated time and space to experiment and relax. Over the past years, The Stafford Centre and the group have become my second home.”
