Course information

about the course

Rural life brings strength, community and connection to nature. But it can also mean fewer services, longer wait times and a tough environment that can make it difficult to ask for help. This session unpacks those challenges through the lens of lived experience and sector research, helping participants better understand how mental health is shaped by place.

In this practical webinar, we’ll explore real-world strategies for improving wellbeing, starting with yourself. You’ll learn how to notice signs of mental strain, set boundaries that support your mental health, and take simple actions to improve connection and resilience.

We’ll also cover how to open conversations with others, respond with empathy and point people toward help in a rural context.

Finally, we’ll look at how organisations and teams can work more inclusively: creating communication habits and team cultures that reduce isolation, even when staff are working alone or spread across wide areas. Participants will leave with practical ideas, helpful resources and a renewed sense of what’s possible, whether you’re working on a farm, in a village school or from home on a patchy Wi-Fi connection.
