Our Dumfries and Galloway resource centres are based in Dumfries, Annan, Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart and Stranraer.  We are looking for a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner to join our community-based services in Stranraer (hub-based).

You’ll support people experiencing poor mental health or mental illness to build confidence, resilience and stronger connections within their community, providing practical, person-centred support focused on what matters to each individual.

About the role

As a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner, you’ll work directly with people through a mix of 1:1 support, group activities and community engagement, helping individuals identify achievable goals, develop personal plans and build practical strategies to support their mental health and wellbeing.

You’ll help create a welcoming and inclusive environment, encourage peer and community connections, and work with local organisations and services to make sure people can access the right support and opportunities.

About you

You’ll have experience supporting people through group activities and one-to-one support, building positive relationships and working in a person-centred, trauma-informed way. You’ll be confident managing your own workload, working collaboratively as part of a team and making safe, informed decisions. An SVQ Level 2 in Social Services and Healthcare (Adults) and SSSC registration are desirable, or you’ll be willing to work towards them.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and the charity and are a “Happy to Talk Flexible” employer. The role is typically worked across weekdays between 9am and 5pm, with occasional evening or weekend working depending on service needs.
