World Mental Health Day
Every year on 10th October, we observe World Mental Health Day, a global initiative to raise awareness and promote action for mental health.
Each year, World Mental Health Day focuses on a specific theme, highlighting key issues around mental health and the importance of equal access to care and support.
For 2024, the theme of World Mental Health Day set by the World Federation for Mental Health is ‘It’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’. As more of us spend significant portions of our lives at work, the need to create environments that promote mental wellbeing has become increasingly important. The impact of stress, burnout and mental health struggles in the workplace is being recognised globally, with many calling for greater action and policies to protect mental health at work.
Change Mental Health is committed to driving these conversations forward, advocating for healthier, more supportive work environments where mental health is on parity with physical health. We believe that every individual deserves the support they need to thrive, both in and out of the workplace.
How you can help
There are many ways in which you could help celebrate World Mental Health Day, which include:
- Spreading Awareness: Share the message of World Mental Health Day and this year’s theme with your workplace and network. Start conversations, post on social media and encourage your colleagues to consider how mental health is supported at work.
- Advocating for Change: Support in pushing for better mental health policies in the workplace. Whether it’s promoting flexible working, better mental health resources or fostering an open dialogue about mental health, your voice can help create lasting change.
- Engaging with us: This World Mental Health Day, take the opportunity to support Change Mental Health directly. Get involved by volunteering with us, making a donation or becoming a member. By working together, we can ensure mental health becomes a priority in every workplace.
- Prioritise Your Own Wellbeing: Start by taking steps to look after your mental health in the workplace. Whether it’s setting boundaries, taking regular breaks or accessing professional support when needed, looking after your own mental health is a crucial step towards promoting a mentally healthy workplace for everyone.
